As Magnus enters his 30’s he celebrates on the water with a feast. Carlsen posts the photo to his Instagram and in the photo there is a ladys’ hand who is assumed to be perhaps someone he’s currently dating.

About a year ago there was a rumor that Magnus Carlsen retired after losing a chess match to an amateur named Max Deutsch. This was simply an April Fools’ prank that the Youtuber Agadmator started. It stated that Deutsch played Carlsen in a rematch after losing to him in 2017. There was a condition that if he lost he will donate $1 million to charity and that Carlsen would have to retire. The truth is that Magnus hasn’t retired. He has however expressed a desire to quite while he was at the top. Carlsen has stated it was still most likely to happen that way, but nothing is definitive yet, and he has changed his opinion before.

Carlsen doesn’t share much publicly about who he’s dating. On January 1st, 2020 he posted to his Instagram a photo dump from the year prior. In the mix there were photos of him and a girl named Elisabet Djonne who appeared to be his girlfriend. We don’t know if they are still together. It is believed that Carlsen is currently single as we have not seen any recent photos of the two together. Elisabet is also Norwegian and studies criminology. In the past, we know Carlsen to of dated Synne Christin Larsen from 2017 to 2018. Synne is also a Norwegian native and was seen supporting Magnus at many of his match’s.
